Final Call – Surin Islands – Budgetcatcher Road Trip 2021
Koh Surin National Marine Park rates as one of Thailand’s prime island locations, located some 60 km off the west coast of Phang Nga Province and 100 km north of the Similans. It’s an archipelago of 5 islands: Koh Surin Nuea, Koh Surin Tai, Koh Ri, Koh Khai, and Koh Klang. Excellent diving, snorkeling, hiking and game fishing are why most travellers come to the Surin Islands. Koh Surin Nuea is also home to an indigenous community of around 150 Moken (sea gypsies), who have settled on the island for several decades.
How to get to Surin Islands:
You can book bungalows and tents through the Royal Thai Forest Department. Contact: https://nps.dnp.go.th/reservation.php (sometimes link doesn’t work). We advise to book one of the sea view bungalows (No. 101/1, 102/1 or 103/3) for actually 2400 THB/Day. We stayed for 2 nights.
Important Notice: Surin Islands will be closed from May-Nov. Due to low snorkeling visibility do NOT start this trip at raining days!
Khura Buri Pier is the nearest launching point to the Surin Islands, 1.5 hours’ drive from Ranong. Speedboat takes 1 hour to Surin National Park once a day at 9 AM (1500 THB/Person/2 ways). We used service of Sabina Tour for 3 days 2 nights package to Surin Island. Facebook: Sabina Tour Koh Surin Thailand
Important Notice: With Sabina Tours you pay for each snorkeling trip 150 THB/Person only (at national park’s headquarters 200 THB). Surin National Park offers 8 amazing snorkeling trips and the Moken Village, tours starting twice a day at 9:00 AM and 13:00 PM. Foreigners are required to pay 500 baht once to enter Mu Koh Surin National Park. Electricity runs only from 18:00 to 22:00 PM each evening. Internet connection might appear slow.
